Prostate Cancer Cure found with tomatoes by D. McQuaid
Prostate Cancer kills over 4,000 people a year, with drugs and treatments only saving 40% of the victims. But the University of Chicago has discovered that Tomatoes can slow or even kill prostate cancer cells. The results showed that freshly grown tomatoes can slow the growing of the killer cancer. Scientists have discovered the nutrient, lycopene, which is found in cooked tomatoes, can slow the growth - and even kill - the cancer cells that hijack a body’s healthy blood supply. Dr Mridula Chopra and colleagues at the University of Chicago found that lycopene, which gives tomatoes their red colour, intercepts the cancer's ability to make the connections it needs to attach to a healthy blood supply. The researchers, from the university's School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences, are now calling for tests to check if the same reaction occurs in the human body. Lycopene is present in all red fruits and vegetables, but its main concentrations are highest in tomatoes and it becomes more readily available and biologically active when it comes from processed tomatoes with a small amount of cooking oil added. Dr Chopra said: "I stress that our tests were done in test tubes in a laboratory and more testing needs to be carried out to confirm our findings, but the laboratory evidence we have found is clear - it is possible to intercept the simple mechanism some cancer cells use to grow at concentrations that can be achieved by eating sufficient cooked tomatoes.” If you are in any way allergic or do not like tomatoes, eat as many red fruits, such as strawberries and red apples. If you are eating anything and you have the cancer, put tomatoes paste or sauce on most things, it could save your life. Anteater needs a Guide by J. Their appearance held up traffic for at 20 minutes, ending up leading to long queues of cars. Charlie Phillips, who photographed the scene, said everyone tried really hard to make sure the swans were not at all hurt or harmed. The police and the Scottish SPCA were called to the scene and the swans were eventually taken to the safety of their habitat. Thankfully the swans were not hurt and nobody had an accident which meant everyone was happy and got to where they had to be on time. |
